"The Life of Marianne: A Day At PEA" Synopsis (I wrote this when I was like sixteen. Be nice.) A fresh look at the typical day of a high-school teenager, "The Life of Marianne" gives a tag-along approach to the otherwise routine schedule of Marianne Kies, a 10th grade student at Phillips Exeter Academy. The preparatory school, located in small-town Exeter, New Hampshire, is known for their high-quality education since 1781, when it was founded by Dr. John Phillips, an Exeter resident and Harvard graduate. Beginning in the early morning hours of October just before school begins, Marianne’s day is peppered with little luxuries normally not included in an everyday public- or private- high school environment: personal P.O. boxes, libraries with multitudes of reading material, and even petite school cafes and snack shops litter the area. As Marianne breezes through math problems, english readings and spontaneous outdoor concerts, the video audience is offered to partake in Marianne’s daily life, up until her arrival at home and her family dog’s warm greeting. The song, "Every Day is a Winding Road," originally recorded by Sheryl Crow, was re-created by Mike, Phyllis, Jerome, and Phil Clapis, as well as John Kostrisak, with voice performance by the movie’s director/producer, Beth Santos. This sunny addition to the video throws in a high level of popular interest and spice as the music synchronizes itself with Marianne’s busy life. Easily observed as a music video, the story’s essence is captured without ever escaping the song’s harmony. A smooth rhythm, upbeat video effects and sharp camera angles blend together to form a solid film that captures the essence of one teenager’s day in unforgettable surroundings. Captivating and inspiring, "The Life of Marianne" offers a creative look on a seemingly typical life- a life that, in fact, may not be so typical after all.
