June 24, 2004   Hi! My name is Beth Santos and I am a recently graduated student of Oyster River High School in Durham. From July 30th to August 1st of this year, Erica Laue, Victoria Mayne and I will be participating in a three day long, sixty mile breast cancer walk in Boston (appropriately titled the Breast Cancer 3-Day). Each participant in the 3 Day MUST raise a minimum of $2,000 for breast cancer. 85% of these funds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, while the remaining 15% will go to a special breast cancer section of the National Philanthropic Trust. In short, this letter is asking for your help! On Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 7:00 PM we will be hosting on a benefit concert at the Durham Community Church (the big white one on the hill). All proceeds from the concert will go directly to our walk. Either we know you as prospective help or have been referred to you by someone else, but in either case, would you be willing to participate? Currently, our most obvious necessity is performers for our concert. We are accepting individuals and groups of all kinds who are willing to perform an appropriate selection of music that evening. However, we don’t just need performers. We also need sound equipment, advertising and baked goods to sell. For this reason, everyone can be an important part of making our concert a success! Will you consider helping us out with our cause by participating in the Breast Cancer Benefit Concert? Please consider this and let me know by July 10th if you would like to help. If you want to perform, you must, in addition to contacting me on July 10th, also tell me exactly what you will perform by July 17th so that I may have the concert as organized as possible. I really hope you choose to help us out, as it will truly be an amazing event for both performers and audience members.
